DESCRIPTION: The galled buds of this species are up to 12mm long, are roughly pyriforme in outline with a pointed apex and are midge induced. All the floral organs remain enclosed within a casing that starts greenish but eventually turns more reddish brown with each gall containing several white to yellow jumping larvae. Mature larvae pupate in the soil with 2 or 3 generations each year. DISTRIBUTION: Local and frequent throughout the summer months. HABITAT: Found on the flower buds of Bird's Foot Trefoil.
